Muse Recordings and Bad Boy Records Inspire Students at the University of Michigan to Get Out and Vote
Series of Events to Take Place During Homecoming Weekend
Ann Arbor, MI—Muse Recordings, founded by University of Michigan graduates, Michael Muse and Marcus Collins, is teaming up with Sean “P-Diddy” Combs’ Citizens of Change and recording artist, Nelly, during homecoming weekend to encourage students and alumni of the University of Michigan to vote in this year’s presidential election.
“As UM alumni, it’s pertinent for us to return and address the student body regarding this year’s election,” said Michael Muse, co-founder, Muse Recordings. “For most of the undergraduates, this will be their first election. We want to encourage them, the 53,000 students attending the university, as well as the 420,000 alumni to take advantage of this opportunity and make a difference.”
In addition, to the school’s battle with affirmative action, many issues to be decided, directly affect the students and alumni of the University of Michigan .
Recent reports indicate, unemployment for young adults is approximately 40-50% higher than the national average, and about 10% of adults under the age of 25 are jobless. Many young adults are finding it difficult to start their career and are being limited to part-time and temporary jobs lacking benefits, good pay and basic rights. Moreover, many are borrowing heavily: for 18-24 year olds, credit card debt increased by 104% in the last decade. Also, the cost of education debt for college students is climbing with 22% of high school graduates are unable to attend a four-year college due to cost. The result is many young adults leave school with debt, and without a diploma.
To discuss these issues and inspire participation, Muse Recordings will present a series of entertaining and educational events for students to attend, including a pep rally to kick of the weekend; tailgate party, dance party and meet and greet with recording artist Jon B.
